Sally Elghamrawy had received the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils Prize 2019 – in the field of young researchers in the field of artificial intelligence. Due to her efforts in publishing the outstanding research paper that contributes significantly to serve the community in more than one field using artificial intelligence techniques. The paper entitled ” Security in Cognitive Radio Network: Defense Against Primary User Emulation Attacks Using Genetic Artificial Bee Colony (GABC) Algorithm”. Due to the dramatic increase in the number of wireless devices and with the COVID-19 pandemic, data rates are increasing to follow the social distances plans during the pandemic, and many educational institutes implement the hybrid learning and use e-learning depending on wireless devices and networks, the lack of free spectrum resources becomes a serious problem. The results of this research proved that the proposed technology provided an efficient solution to the problem of the shortage of free spectrum resources and the protection of the radio network from interference. This research contributes to the community service by proposing an innovation for a new framework based on artificial intelligence technologies to improve the performance of wireless networks by using emerging technologies to reduce the shortage of spectrum resources for the cognitive radio network and to protect it by detecting potential attacks using a new hybrid machine learning technique based on the Genetic Artificial Bee Colony (GABC) algorithm. The simulations results show promising performance of GABC in optimizing spectrum sensing, when compared with recent detection algorithms.
The research paper was published in future generation computer systems journal, Elsevier, one of the leading journals in computer networks. (Q1-Impact Factor =7.18).
